Blockade of Safer by European Young Peasants

It's not often I post an english article on my blog. This video is from a past action in october 2009 in Montpellier with Reclaim the Field, an european grassroot peasant network who reclaim more land for small farmers.. I was there participating to the action as a press officer, and another friend was filming. I just get the video and I'm sharing it now on this blog.

Climate Change affecting Agriculture and Farming in Europe

Cross-posting from Project Survival Media (texte and editing : Robert Van Waarden). I film all the staff from Norway in october 2009 before travelling to Copenhagen for COP15.

Climate change is drastically altering the landscapes and farming culture of the European Continent. From the mountains of Norway to the low lying lands of Italy, from the innovations in the Netherlands to the suffering crops of Romanian farmers, the Project Survival Media team in Europe has explored this issue and produced a multimedia piece. A brief look at the situation, the piece touches on several issues affecting European farmers and shows that climate change is an issue that affects us all. Farmers are on the front line of the climate crisis, and we need strong, coordinated global action on climate change to ensure survival of this industry and our food supplies.

Ride Planet Earth

ride planet earth I copy and past this call out from Kim, wich is member of Travellers of the Earth network.

Dear all,

My name is Kim Nguyen, I am currently cycling from Australia to Denmark to encourage action on climate change. I am the project manager for Ride Planet Earth. You can see all about this project at rideplanetearth.org.

Our project culminates on 6th Dec this year with a cycling environmental action that is taking place all over the world. This action is made up of a series of simultaneous cycling events, people taking to highways, streets and dirt tracks wherever they are, the day before the major UN Climate Change negotiations begin in Copenhagen on Dec 7th.

The aim of the event is three-fold. To raise awareness of the current impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities across the globe, especially Africa, Asia and South America. To demonstrate the capacity and willingness of ordinary people to combat climate change. And thirdly, to demand that our governments agree to take the action necessary by the end of the Copenhagen negotiations. This demands can be seen on the front page at rideplanetearth.org.

If you would like to support this project, by organising rides as part of the event or passing on this request to other organisations, please email me at kim@rideplanetearth.org.

Your help will be greatly, greatly appreciated. Warm Regards,

Kim Nguyen
